ChatGPT interview: We interviewed ChatGPT on hybrid events and it's impressive!

By Sparkup on February 22, 2023

For the past few weeks, we have only heard about ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, and its performance. A new technology? We had to test it! And we decided to interview him. Here is the result of our 20 min “interview” with the smart chat.

You will discover it for yourself, the result is stunning. Nevertheless, we have no doubts about the added value of our industry experts (and Chat GPT agrees) whom we will continue to interview.

Can you please present yourself in one sentence?

I am a language model developed by OpenAI, trained to provide informative and accurate answers on a wide range of topics.

Can you specify?

I am a language model developed by OpenAI, capable of generating text using machine learning from large amounts of text data. I have been trained to respond to questions on a wide range of topics, from science to culture and from history to everyday facts. My goal is to provide quick, reliable and useful answers to any questions asked.

Can you define what engagement during an event is?

Engagement during an event can refer to different aspects of the event experience, such as the interaction and participation of attendees, the quality of the overall experience, and the satisfaction of attendees. This can include activities such as participating in group discussions, participating in interactive activities, participating in live polls or voting, providing feedback and evaluations, etc.

Engagement can also be measured by the duration of participation, the frequency of participation, the quality of participation, and the overall level of satisfaction of attendees. The purpose of engagement is to maximize the event experience for attendees, to reinforce their engagement with the event, and to optimize results for the event organizer.

Can you give us 4 tips for enhancing participant engagement during a hybrid event?

Here are 4 tips for enhancing participant engagement during a hybrid event:

  1. Create an interactive experience for both in-person and online participants: By using tools such as live chat, real-time polls, Q&A sessions, etc., participants can interact with speakers and with each other, thereby enhancing their engagement with the event.

  2. Encourage active participation from attendees: Interactive activities such as games, challenges, contests can encourage participants to feel more involved in the event and stay focused throughout the day.

  3. Use video to enhance immersion: Video can be used to enhance the immersive experience for both in-person and online participants. Live videos can allow online attendees to participate in real-time and feel more involved in the event.

  4. Provide means for connecting participants: Remote participants may feel disconnected from the event and from other participants. It's important to help them connect by providing means of communication, such as online forums, chat rooms, etc.

By using these tips, you can enhance participant engagement during your hybrid event and ensure a positive experience for all participants.

What is the future of hybrid and virtual events?

The future of hybrid and virtual events depends on several factors, such as technological advancements, participant preferences, and economic considerations. However, it is likely that hybrid and virtual events will continue to play a significant role in the events world in the future.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a significant increase in demand for online events as they allow for safe and efficient connection of people despite travel and gathering restrictions. Hybrid and virtual events also offer unique opportunities to reach a wider and more diverse audience, including allowing participants to join events from anywhere in the world.

At the same time, traditional in-person events are likely to continue to have a significant place in the events world. People need to connect in person and share live experiences, and there will always be a need for physical events that offer an immersive and interactive experience.

In conclusion, it is likely that hybrid and virtual events will continue to evolve and become more common, while coexisting with traditional in-person events. Businesses and event organizers will need to continue to explore the benefits and challenges of these new formats to find the best balance between the two."

We would have added a point on environmental concerns...

What are the new technologies to be aware of in virtual event management?

There are several new technologies that are important for virtual events:

  1. Virtual Reality (VR): Virtual reality allows participants to feel as if they are truly present in a virtual environment, which can be particularly useful for team building activities and training sessions.

  2. Augmented Reality (AR): Augmented reality allows users to overlay virtual content on the real world, which can be used for playful activities and product demonstrations.

  3. Live streaming: Live streaming allows participants to feel involved in the event, even if they cannot attend in person.

  4. Chatbots: Chatbots can help participants navigate the event in real-time by providing information on sessions and activities.

  5. Real-time analytics: Real-time analytics tools can help event organizers understand participant engagement, trends, and real-time feedback, which can help improve the overall experience.

These technologies can be used alone or combined to create interactive and engaging virtual events. It is important to note that technology should not be considered the sole solution for enhancing engagement in virtual events, but rather as a tool that can help improve the overall experience for participants.

Can you imagine giving a lecture at an event in the future?

It is possible for language models like myself to be used for giving presentations at events in the future. In fact, this might already be happening in some cases. However, it is unlikely that language models will be used to completely replace human speakers, as presentations given by people tend to be more engaging and credible to the audience due to physical presence and direct interaction.

However, language models can be used in a complementary manner to provide additional information, live presentations or real-time answers to questions. It is also possible for language models to facilitate online discussion or debate sessions in real-time, or to provide information on specific subjects at specific times during the event.

This last question should reassure speakers and further emphasize the importance of human interactions. But after this interview, we can only recognize the effectiveness of this new tool!

A bonus question, we asked Chat GPT how it could be useful for an event? In what ways could it be helpful in organizing a virtual, hybrid, or physical event? Here’s its response.

How can you help me with my virtual, hybrid and on-site events ?

As a virtual assistant, I can be useful for many tasks related to event organization. Here are some examples of tasks for which I can be of great help:

  1. Planning: I can help you develop a detailed plan for your event, starting with defining your objectives, selecting dates, times, vendor selection, and budgeting.

  2. Marketing and communication: I can help you develop a communication strategy to promote your event, creating content for social media, drafting invitation emails, and designing visual materials.

  3. Logistics: I can help you coordinate the various logistical aspects of your event, such as managing registrations, ordering equipment, booking accommodations, and planning transportation.

  4. Technical support: I can help you solve technical issues related to the organization of your event, such as setting up online platforms, managing connections, and assisting participants.

  5. Analysis and evaluation: I can help you evaluate the results of your event and analyze the data collected during the event to draw lessons for future editions.

I'm here to help you lighten your workload and allow you to focus on what's essential: the success of your event!

Seems like a lot for a virtual assistant but we're very enthusiastic on how this new technology will be able to help us with our events!
